The 2023 Review

Here are some (not all) memorable moments of 2023

January (19th): #NationalPopcornDay. Francesca and Jon from the Cineplex Galaxy Cinemas in Owen Sound spread some #RandomActsOfPopcorn throughout our community to show our appreciation. This year this happened during Scotiabank Hockey Day in Owen Sound. We put some popcorn in the Stanley Cup!

February (25th): CNOY Saugeen Shores and Kincardine combined raised $75,645! This was the first year for these events and we are over the moon about the generosity from these two communities!

March (11th/14th): Pi Day run and pies! This fundraiser supports OSHaRe and CMHA Grey Bruce.

April (25th): World Penguin Day. 28 Libraries around Grey Bruce participated in this colouring draw. We were sent so many cute photos and heard a lot of happy feedback from the libraries about this.

May (14th): United Way Bruce Grey received a Certificate of Recognition from the Hanover Police that said: “For their valued contributions and community partnership to ensure a safe, secure, healthy, and prosperous community.”

June: Pride Month!

We strongly believe in promoting equality and inclusivity for all individuals. That is why we are thrilled to talk about our partnership with Grey Bruce Pride, an organization that advocates for the rights of the LGBTQ+ communities in Grey Bruce.

We are proud to support Grey Bruce Pride by being their registered charity.

July (22nd): We put a booth in at the Keystone Family Fun Festival. We had information about our programs that benefit children and their families and a couple of tables to colour adorable photos.

August (17th, 18th & 19th): Stuff the Bus event at Staples in Owen Sound. This is an annual event that takes place around the same time each year, aimed at helping students from low-income families. The concept is simple yet impactful – while parents and guardians are out shopping for back-to-school supplies, they are encouraged to pick up a few extra items for those in need.

September (9th): Bruce Power Challenger Cup soccer tournament.

Bruce Power and Supplier Partners have made donations to the Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey, Saugeen First Nation Food Bank, Nawash Food Bank, and the United Way of Bruce Grey.

Funds provided were raised through this year’s Bruce Power Challenger Cup soccer tournament and celebrated supporting our local community and teamwork within the nuclear industry.

October (28th): The Owen Sound River District’s Trick or Treat Trail. We partnered with the city for this fun event. We handed out over 600 pieces of candy and toothbrushes.

November (28th): Our Giving Tuesday event, Downtown Dine Around. This remarkable collaboration of 4 of our finest downtown establishments supported SOS.

December: We had lots of fun in 6 Santa Claus Parades (Owen Sound, Markdale, Southampton, Port Elgin, Meaford, and Kincardine).

We collected socks for the homeless during each parade we were in.
