Grey Bruce Labour Council Events

For more than seven decades, Canada’s labour movement and the United Way network have worked side by side to build stronger, more inclusive communities. Rooted in a shared commitment to fairness, opportunity, and collective action, Labour Councils and United Ways have partnered to address poverty, support workers and families, and invest in local solutions that improve lives. This enduring relationship stands as one of Canada’s longest and most successful community partnerships, demonstrating the power of labour and community leaders working together for the common good.

For many years, the Grey Bruce Labour Council and the United Way of Bruce Grey have worked together to create a stronger, more equitable region for everyone. Grounded in shared values of fairness, dignity, and community support, this partnership has helped deliver practical assistance to local families through supporting initiatives such as the Backpack Program and the Utility Assistance Program, ensuring children are ready for school and households can maintain access to essential services during difficult times.

Beyond direct support, the partnership has also advanced important community conversations and policy initiatives, including advocacy for a Living Wage and other measures that help reduce poverty and improve economic security.

Together, the Grey Bruce Labour Council and the United Way of Bruce Grey continue a proud tradition of collaboration, demonstrating how labour and community organizations can work hand in hand to create lasting change across Grey and Bruce counties.

Grey Bruce Labour Council 70th Anniversary Dinner

For 70 years, Labour Councils across Canada have been a powerful voice for workers, families, and stronger communities. The Grey Bruce Labour Council has carried forward this proud tradition by advocating for fairness, dignity, and opportunity while building partnerships that make a lasting difference close to home. As we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the enduring connection between labour and community organizations such as the United Way of Bruce Grey, whose shared commitment to reducing poverty, supporting local families, and creating a more equitable future continues to strengthen Grey and Bruce counties for generations to come.
