The Grey-Bruce Good Food Box is a volunteer-powered, community-based program aimed at improving access to quality food by making fresh vegetables and fruits available at a low cost.

Volunteer Site Coordinator

To coordinate customer orders and activities for the Good Food Box.

Responsibilities

  1. Act as local contact and promoter for Good Food Box site
  2. Accessible phone number
  3. Manage local GFB email account
  4. Keep local media updated
  5. Promote local program through posters/flyers which may be supplied by Public Health
  6. Recruit Good Food Box customers and volunteers from your community
  • Paperwork, Record Keeping and Communication
  • Collect orders and cash payment for boxes from multiple order sites
  • Keep accurate records of orders/payments
  • Work in partnership with host site to manage program
  • Place produce order with supplier
  • Make local revisions to newsletter sent via email from Public Health and arrange for photocopying of newsletter for inclusion with Good Food Box
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers, supplier, order sites and “hubs”, and YMCA subsidy coordinator
  • Track customer subsidy use and complete and return reports to YMCA subsidy coordinator
  • Delivery Day Coordinator
  • Organize a diverse group of 12+ volunteer packers
  • Coordinate and supervise packing system
  • Arrange clean-up of site, disposal of cardboard, etc.
  • Greet customers, distribute boxes and record pick-up and prepayment for next month
  • Back-up coordination plan in place – in case of planned absence or emergency

Qualifications

  • Able to commit 15-20 hours per month
  • Accessible phone number for receiving customer inquiries, etc.
  • Friendly and enjoy working with a diversity of people in your community
  • Well-organized and able to keep records
  • Cash handling and financial record keeping experience an asset
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Interested in food, health and building strong community
