Looking for something fun to do without spending a lot of money this Labour Day weekend? There are several free and low-cost community events happening across Grey and Bruce counties from Friday, September 4 to Monday, September 7.

Grey County Events

Desboro Fall Fair

Friday, September 4 & Saturday, September 5 | Desboro

Enjoy a traditional agricultural fair and a great opportunity to experience a small-town community celebration. Activities include agricultural exhibits, 4-H events, an antique tractor pull, and more.

Admission is free.

Owen Sound Farmers’ Market

Saturday, September 5 | 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Owen Sound

Start your Saturday morning with a visit to the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market at 88 8th Street East. Browse local produce, food, and products from vendors from across the area.

It’s free to browse, although you’ll want to bring some spending money if something catches your eye!

Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular

Continues through Sunday, September 6 | Owen Sound

The Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular continues through the Labour Day weekend, wrapping up at noon on Sunday. While entering the fishing derby requires a ticket, you don’t have to fish to stop by and experience one of Owen Sound’s biggest annual events.

Bruce County Events

Port Elgin Labour Day Parade

The Grey Bruce Labour Council Unifor will hold their annual Labour Day parade in Port Elgin on Monday, September 7th. The parade has turned into a Labour Day tradition. There will be classic cars, pipe bands, and up to 1500 people walking in it.

Kincardine Cruise Night

Friday, September 4 | 5:30 to 8 p.m. | Downtown Kincardine

Head to Queen Street in downtown Kincardine for the final Cruise Night of the summer. Classic cars, special-interest vehicles, and motorcycles will fill the downtown streets for visitors to check out.

Admission is free for spectators and participating vehicles.

Free Bruce County Public Library Activities

Friday, September 4 | Various Locations

Looking for a quieter activity? Bruce County Public Library has several free events happening on Friday:

• Story Time in Lucknow: 10:30 to 11 a.m.
• Book Club in Lion’s Head: 11 a.m. to noon
• Scrabble/UNO in Ripley: 1 to 2 p.m.

All of these activities are free and offer a great opportunity to connect with others in the community.

Kincardine Fall Fair

Friday, September 4 & Saturday, September 5 | Connaught Park, Kincardine

Celebrate the 175th Kincardine Fall Fair with agricultural shows, children’s activities, entertainment, and plenty of traditional fall fair fun.

Admission is by donation.

Tobermory All Seasons Market

Saturday, September 5 | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Tobermory

Heading up the Bruce Peninsula? Stop by the Tobermory All Seasons Market and browse local art, wood products, antiques, produce, and other items from local vendors.

Admission is free.

Kids Create

Sunday, September 6 | 2 to 3 p.m. | Port Elgin

The Port Elgin Branch of the Bruce County Public Library is hosting Kids Create, a free activity that gives children an opportunity to get creative and have some fun.
