We Remember Them 2024: Post-Event Update
On April 6th, the 4th annual We Remember Them event took place, uniting the community to honour the lives lost to the ongoing opioid crisis at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market.
Attendees engaged in a symbolic act of dropping carnations into the river near the 8th and 9th Street Bridges, paying tribute to those who have passed away in our community. Donations were given to support the Supportive Outreach Service (SOS) Project.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who joined us, and special appreciation to Gelja Sheardown for introducing this meaningful initiative 4 years ago, making this event possible.
Attendees shared that the event provided them with an opportunity to reflect and process their grief. We are grateful for the support offered by Grey Bruce Public Health, including Naloxone training and expert guidance.
Together, as a community, we remain committed to honouring those we’ve lost and working collaboratively towards solutions to combat opioid addiction.
