It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the United Way so here’s some news you can use!

Starlight Film Festival – an all teen (14-18) move marathon that starts at Midnight April 28th at the Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound

Canadian Mental Health Association ~ Brunch Program | Working together, the garden project not only provides job ready skills, a wage but also provides an abundance of garden-fresh produce for the 60 meals a day served by the Union Place Brunch program. |
Canadian Mental Health Association ~ Friends & Neighbours Club | The FAN program uses child-sized puppets to talk to children ages 4 to 11 about mental health |

Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services ~ Residence Program | To help move suicidal, depressed and anxious youth in the direction of wellness by providing therapeutic and alternative recreational activities |
Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library ~ Teen Advisory Group Programming | For 2017 we are working with a team of youth volunteers to provide free technology training to seniors and other adults in our community. |
Pegasus Riding Association Nurturing Challenged Equestrians ~ Volunteer Coordinator | To meet the above needs in the following way: one camper per week for 6 weeks and 4 riders in the regular sessions would be funded. |
South Grey Bruce Youth Literacy ~ Community Volunteer Tutor Program | In addition to our one-on-one core tutoring program, we continue to offer drama workshops for kinesthetic learners in a group setting, and presentations and workshops for parents and other adult allies who support these learners. |
St John Ambulance First Aid Training | To enable our organization to provide Mental Health First Aid training to the staff, volunteers and clients of the Bruce Grey United V/ay Member Agencies. |
The Meeting Place Tobermory ~ Food Bank | To help us manage the program through the ups and downs and the donation side. |
The Meeting Place Tobermory ~ Project Development & Community Coordination | For Community Information & Resource Coordination (CIRC) the majority of the 88 individuals and families served last year accessed the service directly. |
Victim Services Bruce Grey Perth | This program provides for direct client expenses not covered by any other program and may include emergency accommodation/food/transportation/clothing and other resources. |
Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey ~ Child Witness | To assist children who witness domestic violence in the home. |
Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey ~ Outreach Community Counselling | Working to build strong families by supporting violence prevention efforts and ensuring families are supported within their home communities. |
Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey ~ Second Stage Housing | The Second Stage Program supports women who may also need support with housing, and assistance with accessing and navigating support systems. |
Bruce Grey Children & Family Services Foundation | For funds to prevent an admission to foster care. |
