In 2024, the Hope for Our Kids Fund made a lasting difference in the lives of children across Bruce and Grey counties. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, $35,000 was raised to send 75 children to camp, children involved with Bruce Grey Child & Family Services (BGCFS) and from low-income families.

For many of these kids, it was their very first time away at camp. A place to laugh, play, and simply be kids again. Camp is more than fun and games. It is about healing, building confidence, and creating connection. It is a space where children can grow, explore new experiences, and feel like they belong in a safe, supportive environment.

Our partnership with Bruce Grey Child & Family Services continues to be a cornerstone of this program. BGCFS works closely with some of the most vulnerable children and families in our region, ensuring that every child has a chance to thrive, no matter their circumstances.

Together, with the support of BGCFS and our caring community, we gave 75 kids the summer they deserved, full of laughter, learning, and memories to last a lifetime. This is the power of local love in action.

Every Child Matters

The Hope for Our Kids Fund supports more than 800 children across Bruce and Grey Counties who are impacted by poverty. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for this fund has only grown.

Through your donations, we are able to provide:

• Nutritious food and essentials for families in need
• Warm winter clothing and boots to keep kids safe and cozy
• Safety equipment such as gates, car seats, and cribs
• Camp experiences that open doors to growth, confidence, and connection

Every child deserves to have their basic needs met and to experience joy, safety, and hope. Your support makes that possible.

Background Information on the Hope for Our Kids Fund

For many years the United Way of Bruce Grey partnered with Bruce Grey Child and Family Services (BGCFS), to provide funding to the BGCFS Foundation since its inception, and prior to that, to the Children’s Aid Societies serving both Bruce and Grey. Together, we helped the most vulnerable children and families in our region.  In 2017, we were thrilled to announce that our role in this existing partnership expanded to include important fundraising duties previously accomplished by the BGCFS Foundation.

With the dedicated commitment and generosity of our donors, the United Way is dedicated to providing essential and emergency support for vulnerable children and families in Bruce-Grey.  Our expanded role requires raising additional funds to specifically support the children in our community who are associated with BGCFS to provide access to emergency food, safety equipment, winter outerwear, summer camp fees, and other required supports when and where they are needed.
