Congratulations to Olive Borowski – 2025 Youth Volunteer of the Year!

At United Way Bruce Grey, we are thrilled to announce that our nominee, Olive Borowski, has been awarded the City of Owen Sound’s Youth Volunteer of the Year 2025!

Olive Borowski (City of Owen Sound’s Youth Volunteer of the Year 2025), Marion Koepke (Owen Sound Council), Sean Vickers (Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP), and Ian Boddy (Owen Sound Mayor)

Each year, the City celebrates volunteers of all ages and backgrounds for their passion, time, and dedication to making our community stronger. In 2018, they introduced the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award to recognize outstanding young people between the ages of 14 and 21, and this year, that honour proudly goes to Olive Borowski.

A Leader Who Brings People Together

Olive is the creative force behind Banditfest, a grassroots music and arts festival that’s all about community, creativity, and connection. Thanks to Olive’s vision and leadership, Banditfest has become much more than an event — it’s a movement that gives young artists a platform to shine, encourages volunteerism, and fosters a strong sense of belonging.

From pulling together sponsors to managing logistics and building a welcoming team of volunteers, Olive has shown incredible dedication. They’ve worked hard to make sure Banditfest is accessible to everyone and have inspired countless young people to get involved and make a difference.

Making a Lasting Impact

Beyond Banditfest, Olive is always finding ways to give back, volunteering with other local initiatives and leading by example. Their passion, creativity, and drive have made a real impact on our community — and have motivated others to step up, too.

We couldn’t be prouder of Olive for this well-deserved recognition. Their leadership shows that youth can make powerful change, not just for today, but for generations to come.

Congratulations, Olive! We are so proud of you!
