CNOY Supporting Kincardine 2023

For 25 years, United Way of Bruce Grey has dedicated itself to fostering growth and well-being in the Kincardine region. Our unwavering commitment is demonstrated through the provision of local grants and the implementation of indispensable front-line programs, including the Utility Assistance Program, the Backpack Program, 211, and the Financial Literacy Program. These initiatives actively tackle pressing issues such as homelessness, hunger, and other deeply rooted problems faced by our community.

211 Information and Referral Service
The 211 Information and Referral service, ensures that every person in Kincardine can access information on community programs 24/7. In 2023, 555 calls were made to 211, totaling $2,458.65 in costs.

Utility Assistance Program
In 2023, the Utility Assistance Program played a pivotal role in aiding 17 households in Kincardine, comprising 18 adults, 7 seniors, and 2 children. The grants, amounting to $12,240.28, reflect our commitment to alleviating financial burdens. Additionally, the program assisted 12 households with essential resources like wood, oil, or propane.

Good Food Box
The Grey-Bruce Good Food Box, a volunteer-powered initiative, enhances food accessibility by offering fresh produce at a low cost. In 2023, a grant of $2,992 covered 136 tokens for the Kincardine Good Food Box.

The Backpack Program
The Backpack Program distributed 180 fully stocked backpacks to Kincardine students in need, costing a total of $6,606 in 2023.

Homelessness to Housing Supports
In 2023, we allocated $2,396.66 to Homelessness to Housing Supports.

Granting Results
The In-School Mentoring program by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kincardine & District received a $4,000 grant in 2023. The lifetime grant amount is $395,900 for Kincardine.

In total, $30,693.59 was invested in Kincardine in 2023, reflecting the substantial impact of funds raised from The Coldest Night of the Year. These contributions empower United Way to sustain and expand its support for Kincardine residents through vital programs and grants.
