2018 Backpack Program By The Numbers
Final numbers are in for the 2018 Backpack Program and we were able to achieve a record year!
Quick Look At The Numbers
2456 Students in Bruce Grey received a backpack and school supplies to begin the year. That’s 400 more than last year!
It was almost a 50/50 split between boys and girls, with 1253 girls and 1203 boys receiving a backpack.
34.6% were Primary Aged Students (K-2)
25.4% were Intermediate Aged Students (3-6)
16.5% were Senior Aged Students (7-8)
23.5% were High School Students (9-12)
When totaling the cost of backpacks and school supplies, we estimate that we saved local parents more than $150 000 dollars in 2018, and over 1.5 million throughout the life of the program.

Thank you
Thank you to everyone who donated or volunteered their time with the Backpack Program. Heartfelt appreciation to Staples Owen Sound, as we celebrate Ten Years of partnership. During the Stuff The Bus Campaign this August, we raised more than $7000 on site. That number wouldn’t be possible without their help.
Donations are still being accepted to cover the extra costs from our record year and can be made at the United Way Office 380 9th St E, Owen Sound or online here:
