The United Way of Bruce Grey reminds the public that the electricity and natural gas disconnection ban expires this Friday, July 31st.
This is a reminder that the disconnection ban currently in place for electricity and natural gas customers will expire on Friday, July 31st. If you are behind on your utility bills after this date, your energy provider can begin to take steps to disconnect you from your service unless you make sufficient payment or work out a payment arrangement with your provider.
If you are low income, you may qualify for utility assistance through the LEAP Program for electricity and natural gas. The LEAP Program will be open to take applications starting on Tuesday, August 4th. To apply for assistance, call the LEAP Program directly after this date at: 1-855-487-5327
If you are low income and are interested in lowering your electricity bill, you may qualify for the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) which provides a monthly reduction on your hydro bill. To apply online, visit: https://ontarioelectricitysupport.ca/ or contact the United Way of Bruce Grey for assistance with submitting your application.
If you are looking for assistance with oil, wood or propane, you may qualify for the United Way of Bruce Grey Utility Assistance Program. This program provides one time assistance per year for low income households. Call 2-1-1 to apply.
