When Water Isn’t Certain, Community Matters
For a few days in March, Owen Sound faced a boil water advisory that disrupted everyday life.
For many, it was an inconvenience. For others, it was a real barrier.
When access to safe water becomes uncertain, even briefly, it can mean added costs, stress, and challenges especially for seniors, families with young children, people on tight budgets, and those with limited mobility.

Why strong community partnerships are needed
A team made up of people from the United Way Bruce Grey, Paramedic Services Grey County, Owen Sound Hunger and Relief (OSHaRE), the City of Owen Sound, Safe n Sound, OwenSound Home Hardware along with IceRiver Springs and Bruce Power, were able to coordinate in a very quick timeline to deliver water to those most in need.
A reminder of what matters most
Moments like this show how quickly basic needs can become difficult to meet. They also show the strength of a connected community.
Local organizations, volunteers, and partners stepped up to support those who needed it most. That kind of response does not happen by accident. It happens because systems and supports are already in place.

Looking ahead
The advisory was short. The impact is a lasting reminder. When we support our community, we are not just responding to today. We are making sure no one is left behind tomorrow.
