The United Way of Bruce Grey is seeking motivated and dedicated Board Members to join our nonprofit organization. Board Members are will be a key part of driving change and making a difference in our community through philanthropic projects and volunteer facilitation. This opportunity will afford successful candidates with a meaningful opportunity to have a lasting impact on the communities of Bruce and Grey. Additionally you will gain useful board of Directors experience along with profile exposure that is relevant and respected in any career path. They will be responsible for making impactful decisions and furthering the mission of the United Way.

Responsibilities:

– Guide the mission of our organization through ambitious initiatives
– Participate in periodic reviews and decision-making processes
– Provide guidance and oversight to the organization’s staff and board
– Facilitate, oversee and support fundraising efforts to support programs and initiatives
– Attend monthly meetings (11 per year), and possibly other activities related to the organization, in person and via Zoom
– Represent the organization at public and private events
– Provide strategic direction to align the organization’s activities
– Network and build collaborations with other leaders in the sector

Have a willingness and desire to learn and improve in any of these qualifications:

– Extensive knowledge of the social sector,
– Leadership experience and/or board experience
– An understanding on the importance of nonprofit governance
– Proven track record of driving change and making a difference
– Excellent communication and negotiation skills
– Ability to build relationships with stakeholders
– Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
– Aptitude for problem-solving and critical thinking
