Our Hockey Programs

For 35 years, the Puck Pigs hockey program has been bringing together clients of Brightshores Health System & CMHA Grey Bruce who are managing mental health. Men and women of all skills join the team, but once they put on the jersey, they are hockey players.

Mental illness can make people feel alone, but playing hockey each week helps them get out and make friends. Hockey provides them with a vital outlet, helping to release endorphins that reduce depression, stress, and anxiety.
In the fall of 2024 The Ice Dogs were added as a second team and option for those who wanted to play hockey, but wanted to stay away from the “case of beer in the locker room after”
Huge thanks to the James Goreski Foundation for funding the 2023-24 season for both teams! Thank you to the Society of United Professionals for the new Puck Pig jerseys!
Both teams are now known as the NBL – the Non-Beer League
