Kevin McNabb Recieves The King Charles III Coronation Medal

The United Way was honoured to nominate Kevin McNabb for his outstanding leadership and innovative contributions in addressing the opiate crisis and providing critical support to homeless individuals and those with substance use disorder. Kevin’s unique approach has redefined paramedic services, emphasizing compassion, collaboration, and creativity to solve complex social and health challenges.
Kevin will humbly bluster that he was not alone, and he was never alone, in the creation of the SOS program, but it was his determination to save lives that inspired all of us, to follow him with the blind faith that this could be done
Under Kevin’s visionary leadership, the SOS team pioneered a groundbreaking approach that blends emergency response with long-term support systems. Recognizing the growing intersection of homelessness and substance use disorder, The SOS collaboration designed an initiative that integrates paramedic care with social services, mental health support, and addiction recovery programs. The initiative has become a model for communities seeking holistic solutions that prioritize long-term recovery and well-being over crisis management.
The SOS program, under Kevin’s leadership, has not only saved lives but also built a more compassionate and responsive system that empowers those most affected by the opiate crisis. Through his tireless dedication, Kevin has demonstrated that innovation in paramedic services can truly transform communities and create lasting change.
It is for these reasons that the United Way nominated Kevin McNabb for The King Charles III Coronation Medal, in recognition of his exceptional leadership, creativity, and unwavering commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
