#FinancialFridays: Budgeting Presentations for High School Graduates
Congratulations Graduates of 2024!
This week, Caroline, who runs our Financial Literacy Program, met with the graduating students at St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound. What an awesome group of students! Caroline discussed how to use a budget as a tool for planning the next adventure, whether it’s entering the workforce, trades, or post-secondary education. She also provided basic information about income taxes and the benefits of filing. Natalie Brown, a Senior Small Business Advisor with Meridian Credit Union, offered insights into banking and credit. Three former St. Mary’s students who are now in college and university shared their experiences and answered questions. Representatives from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), the YMCA, and the Community Foundation Grey Bruce were also on hand to provide helpful information. It was a great morning filled with practical and interesting insights!
If you are or know a graduating student at Sacred Heart Catholic High School, Caroline and Natalie will be presenting there on Monday, May 27th. They will be available to answer questions both during the presentations and in one-on-one sessions afterward. CMHA, YMCA, Community Foundation, VPI Working Solutions, Sunlife, and the Launchpad will also be present.
Thank you, Natalie Brown, for being such a wonderful co-presenter, and Jennifer Kirby, the Mental Health Lead for the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board, for organizing the morning and extending the invitation!
