#FinancialFridays: 5 Days Left to File Taxes

With five more days to file your 2024 income taxes, it may be difficult to find available services. If you have simple taxes and you feel confident, the Canada Revenue Agency has electronic filing options available.
NETFILE and ReFILE services are available from February 24, 2025, until January 30th, 2026. You can electronically file your 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 personal income taxes. You can also file amended income tax returns for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 using ReFILE.
For the 2024 tax year, before filing your tax return electronically with NETFILE, you will need to enter an Access code after your name, date of birth, and social insurance number. Your eight-character Access code is made up of numbers and letters and can be found on the right side of your Notice of Assessment for the previous tax year. This code is not mandatory; Using it allows you to use any information from your 2024 tax return when confirming your identity with the CRA. If you are filing your taxes for the first time, you do not need the Access code.
In Grey and Bruce Counties, there are various organizations offering the free Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). Some organizations are doing clinics which will end soon while others have other processes and time periods for offering their services.
