A lot of people will be visiting their families over the Easter weekend, so we have compiled some of the free events happening in the Bruce and Grey area.

Now that it is starting to warm up in the area, there will be numerous municipal hiking trails that are snow-free and ready to be walked on.

Easter Egg hunts around the area

Grey County

Hanover – Rotary Club of Hanover Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 4 at Heritage Square, Hanover, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet the Easter Bunny, hunt for eggs, free hot dogs for kids, etc.

Markdale – Rotary Club of Markdale’s Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 4 at Chapman’s Soccer Field, Markdale. The Easter egg hunt starts right at 11:00 a.m.

Meaford – Rotary Club of Meaford Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday. April 4 at Beautiful Joe Park, Meaford. The Easter Bunny arrives at 11:45 a.m. with the egg hunt beginning at 12:00 noon.

Owen Sound – Heritage Place Shopping Mall – Saturday, April 4, free photos with the Easter Bunny, and participate in an egg scavenger hunt
Location: Centre Court: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Bruce County

Kincardine – Rotary Club of Kincardine Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 4 at Victoria Park, Kincardine, starting at 10:00 a.m. Rabbit House Rescue and Sanctuary will be there with some of their adorable rabbits.

Port Elgin – Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce’s Eggstravaganza – Saturday, April 4, located in downtown Port Elgin. There will be a goody trail, photos with the Easter Bunny (Coulter Parkette), petting zoo, bubbles, and face painting from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Pools and the like

Here are the schedules for the area pools that have day passes, family passes, etc., which are all detailed on each location’s website

Port Elgin: Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre (Fun swim on Saturday, April 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., No registration required)

Kincardine: Davidson Centre (Public swim on Sunday, April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Closed April 3 and April 6)

Owen Sound: YMCA Fitness and Aquatic Centre (See holiday schedule for Good Friday; Regular hours for April 4, closed on April 5, and regular hours for April 6)
