BGPTF to Speak at Resistance Tour in Port Elgin
We’re excited to announce that Jill Umbach, Coordinator of the Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force and the Grey Bruce Children’s Alliance, will be a featured speaker at the Port Elgin stop of the Charlie Angus Resistance Tour on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 6:30 pm at Lakeshore Recreation Banquet & Fitness Facility.

Jill will be addressing income solutions like guaranteed basic income and a living wage. These are critical topics at a time when many in our community are navigating poverty, food insecurity, and the rising cost of living. Her voice and experience will bring local context to national conversations on equity and resilience.
A Powerful Evening of Voices and Action
The event promises to be an inspiring night, featuring:
- Charlie Angus – Former MP and national advocate, sharing his “Elbows Up” message of Canadian sovereignty, solidarity, and resilience.
- Indigenous Opening – Land acknowledgment and smudging ceremony led by Rebecca Smith (Gentlebreeze) of Saugeen First Nation.
- Community Connections – Opportunities to engage with the Grey Bruce Labour Council, Grey Bruce Health Coalition, and the Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force.
