Banditfest 2024
Youth-led Music Festival Returning to Owen Sound
Owen Sound’s youth-led non-profit music festival Banditfest is returning to the city in 2024. Building on the success of the inaugural festival in 2023, Banditfest has partnered with the United Way of Bruce Grey to create a fuller and more vibrant vision for Banditfest. This year’s festival will run on July 21st and will include performances by 15 musical acts aged 13-25 as well as private workshops and mentoring opportunities for youth performers to build their skills and confidence. It will also feature artistic vendors from all over Grey Bruce aiming to share their art with the world.
“We believe in the transformative power of music to empower, unite, and inspire,” said Bandifest founder and festival organizer, Olive Borowski. “We want to build a community where the unique voices of today’s youth are not only heard but celebrated and we are committed to providing platforms for young talents to showcase their musical abilities, fostering confidence and self-expression through initiatives like Banditfest”.
The crew at Banditfest is inviting individuals and organizations who share their passion for empowering youth and building a stronger, more inclusive community to get involved with the festival. Borowski explains that there are many ways to support the Banditfest including through sponsorships, volunteering, donating, and purchasing tickets for the shows.
“We think of Banditfest as more than just a festival or series of concerts; it’s a communal celebration that brings people together. We want to build a world where every individual, regardless of background or identity, feels welcomed and valued. Music and concerts are great ways to do that and as young people, we have the tools to make it happen”, Borowski said.
Sponsors of this event include The Community Foundation of Grey Bruce, The United Way of Bruce Grey, Long and Mcquade, Metro Owen Sound, and the Owen Sound Farmers Market.
