Backpack Program Update from Lauryn: Over 1,100 Packed and Counting!
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update on how things are going with the Backpack Program, and wow, it’s been a big week!
So far, we’ve packed 1,113 backpacks for kids in Bruce Grey. That includes 836 that have already gone out, and another 277 that are packed and ready to roll. It’s such a great feeling to see these numbers climb and know how many students will be starting school with the supplies they need.
This week alone, we sent backpacks to:
- Community Living Walkerton – 201
- Community Living Kincardine – 20
- Southampton Rotary Club – 28

This is a photo of the 201 backpacks that were sent to Walkerton this week.
Each delivery means real impact, and it’s only possible because of the way this community shows up. The support, donations, and partnerships make all the difference. Thank you.
In terms of demand, we’ve had 1,448 backpacks requested so far. That breaks down to 1,239 from agencies and 209 from individual families. It’s a big number, but we’re making serious progress.
A quick shoutout to Staples in Owen Sound, they’ve just kicked off their till donation campaign in support of the Backpack Program in partnership with the Kiwanis of Owen Sound. If you’re heading in to grab school or office supplies, please consider donating while you’re there. Every little bit helps us get closer to our goal.
Just a heads-up: we’re not looking for volunteers at the moment, our packing process is all set for now. If that changes, we’ll definitely put out the call. For now, the best way to help is by donating, spreading the word, or simply cheering us on.
This program is such a beautiful reflection of what’s possible when a community comes together. I’m so grateful to be part of it.
Thanks again for everything, we’ll keep you posted!
