1,782 Backpack Requests and Counting

Hey everyone, I wanted to pop in with a quick update on how things are going with the Backpack Program. It’s been a busy few weeks, and I’m so grateful for the incredible support from our community. You’re helping make a real difference for local kids and families, and it shows.

We’ve Packed Over 1,500 Backpacks So Far

Right now, we’ve packed a total of 1,505 backpacks.
That includes 1,271 that have already been handed out and another 234 that are packed and waiting to go. It’s amazing to see those numbers climb, knowing each one is going to a child who needs it.

A Look at This Week’s Deliveries

Here’s who picked up backpacks this week:

  • Kincardine Food Bank took 77
  • Salvation Army in Port Elgin picked up 12
  • Community Living Owen Sound also picked up 12

These partners are key to helping us reach families, and we’re so glad to work alongside them.

The Need Is Big

So far, we’ve received:

  • 1,496 agency orders
  • 286 individual requests

That brings us to 1,782 backpacks requested so far. And we know more will come in as the school year gets closer.

None of This Happens Without You

Every single packed backpack is possible because people in our community step up. You’ve donated supplies, packed bags, spread the word, and supported us financially. However, you’ve helped, please know it’s noticed and deeply appreciated.

We still have work ahead, but with your help, we’re making sure as many kids as possible start the school year feeling confident and ready.

Thanks for being part of this. I’ll keep you posted as more backpacks head out!
